Best Kamado Joe Grill Accessories
Each of the accessories add incredible value to the Kamado Joe grill and each of the accessories serve a unique purpose in the grilling process.
Here is our list of the best Kamado Joe grill accessories:
Kamado Joe Grill Cover
If you plan to have your grill sitting outside in the weather/elements, a Kamado Joe grill cover is nice to have. They are waterproof and very durable, and are available in full length sizes that fit the Kamado Joe Joe Jr., Kamado Joe Classic 18 and Kamado Joe Big Joe 24 grills.
Kamado Joe DoJoe
The Kamado Joe DoJoe is a wedge-shaped insert that converts your grill into a pizza oven and is used to hold your pizza stone and heat deflectors. It allows you to slide your pizza in and out of the grill as well as cook your pizza at a high temperature without even having to open the dome grill lid. It sits on top of the grill gasket like the Joetisserie.
Kamado Joe Ceramic Pizza Stone
Kamado Joe grills are ideal for baking pizza and the Kamado Joe ceramic pizza stone makes that possible by using your grill to bake wood-fired pizza with a crispy crust. To avoid burning your pizza, the ceramic pizza stone must be used with the Kamado Joe heat deflector plates.
Kamado Joe SloRoller
The Kamado Joe SloRoller is a hyperbolic pressure chamber insert that provides localized air pressure that creates smoke spirals and distributes heat in the top of the grill where your food is cooking so that the food is cooked evenly until it is tender. You will need to remove the Divide and Conquer rack to use the SloRoller. This piece of equipment is part of the basic accessory package with certain models of the Kamado Joe grill only.
Kamado Joe Grill Grate Gripper
The Kamado Joe grill grate gripper is a must-have tool because it not only makes it easy and safe to lift hot grill grates out of the grill without being burnt, it also helps to keep grease off your hands when lifting out grates that have cooled. Got you covered though….you’ll find this tool with every grill.
Kamado Joe Heat Deflector Plates
The Kamado Joe heat deflector plates provide indirect heat by creating a barrier between the charcoal heat and your food. They are used with the Divide and Conquer Flexible Cooking System and are especially helpful in creating a tender brisket or when setting up your grill for baking.
Because these plates are half-moon ceramic heat deflectors, they allow you to cook things like veggies on one side of the grill by using indirect heat, and steaks and burgers on the other side by using direct heat. These plates are great for using in your low and slow smoking and come as part of the basic accessory package with certain Kamado Joe grills only.
Divide and Conquer Flexible Cooking System
This patented cooking system allows you to set up your grill or different levels of cooking. With this system you have a main cooking rack, an accessory rack, heat deflectors, half moon grill racks and a grill extender that almost doubles your cooking surface and grilling capacity.
With these accessories, you can set up your grill to have two cooking zones – one for indirect heat cooking (low temperature zone) and one for direct heat cooking (high temperature zone). This is truly an amazing cooking system and you can get this as part of the basic accessory package with certain Kamado Joe grills only.
Kamado Joe Sear Plate
The Kamado Joe sear plate allows you to get really close to the coals to sear foods like steak using direct heat, as well as other meats where you want the sear marks. This sear plate is reversible and adds a unique sear mark with each side.
Kamado Joe Ash Tool
The Kamado Joe ash tool provides you with a way to stir the charcoal and get even heat while preheating the grill. It also helps with removing ashes from the grill when it’s time to clean. No need to worry….this tool comes with every grill.
Kamado Joe Ash Basket
The Kamado Joe ash basket is used with the Divide and Conquer Flexible Cooking System and is nice for being able to separate charcoal from the ashes to help clean the grill firebox.
Kamado Joe Fire Starter Cubes
The Kamado Joe fire starter cubes are an excellent replacement for lighter fluid (which should never be used in your Kamado Joe grill) because they are safe and will get your charcoal started in any weather condition. I don’t know what I would do without something like this to help get the fire started in my grill.
Kamado Joe XL Lump Charcoal
The Kamado Joe XL lump charcoal is a natural lump charcoal that is made of pure hardwood charcoal and contains no additives. I never like to use charcoal briquettes in my grill because they generally contain fire starting additives that can leave a chemical taste both in the grill and on the food. You can read more about this hardwood lump charcoal here.
Digital Remote BBQ Thermometer
A digital remote BBQ thermometer is a must have accessory because it helps you keep tabs on food remotely, especially foods that have longer cooking times. With a remote BBQ thermometer, you can even monitor your cooking progress from the house. In order to find out about some of the different options, you can check out our page about the importance of having a good thermometer.
The Kamado Joetisserie is a terrific accessory to have if you’re someone who likes rotisserie chicken. The rotating spit has adjustable forks to secure and balance your chicken while it’s being cooked. This accessory provides even cooking and is a great way to seal in the natural juices of the meat. It can also be used for things like prime rib and Boston butt.
